How we met

He Said, She Said: How We Met

It was Thanksgiving night. Nathan, Steph, and myself were bored and looking for something to do. We decided to go to a bar. After calling every known bar in Frederick and realizing they were closed, Steph convinced me to go to Hagerstown. I whined and complained the whole way over the mountains about how I didn’t want to go to Hagerstown.

It was evening of November27th 2003. I had already done the family thing and was feeling very bored. I called my friends and no one was going out to do anything so I was stuck all by myself in my apartment. So what to do, what to do?

At Hagerstown, the first two bars of choice were closed. We ended up at the Corner Pub (a neat little Irish themed bar). We sat in front of the pool table, had a few beers and played some pool.

I was into shooting pool at the time and there was this nice little bar called the Corner Pub that my friends and I were regulars at. Going to a bar by myself is not what I like do but this night I had no choice. I grabbed my pool cue and off I went.

We were at the bar for about an hour, when the front door (right next to the pool table) opened and the most handsome man in jeans, a baby blue shirt and pool stick in hand walked in. He walked over to the chalk board and wrote his name so that he would be next in line to play pool. I watched with peaked curiosity as he wrote out M-A-T-T (cross the two t’s with one line). He looked up from the board caught my eye and gave me a quick half smile before walking away.

I arrived at the Corner pub probably around eight thirty, and as soon as I walk in I noticed a girl with bright red lips and red hair and her friends by the pool table. I put my name on the chalk board to play. After a few minutes, I was playing pool and kept making eye contact with this girl and smiling, and I’m thinking this girl is HOT! Eventually we began to talk and I sat beside her during and in between pool matches. As we talked I was very enthused by our conversation.

As the night went on, our conversations continued to get deeper into philosophy and life. After many drinks and laughs it was time for the bar to close and our wonderful evening to end. There was an exchange of phone numbers and as we walked outside it was flurrying for the first time that year. We gave each other a hug before we parted ways until our first date or was that our first date. ;)
