The Carr Show

September

September is such a busy, busy month. The month started out in grand fashion with Ian Emmons joining the World and just got busier from there. On September 16th, Brie turned 2. I can’t believe she is 2 already. I swear that just yesterday I was turning around from Brie’s baby warmer at the hospital to tell Brittany how gorgeous her baby was. Brie has been such a fun, wonderful addition into Matt and my life and every other life that she touches. If the next years are as great as the first two, we are lucky people to say the least. Brittany and Bob threw a party for Bug that was in typical “huge Italian family” fashion. It was a good day.
I was lucky enough to go with Brittany and family to see their newest little one. The sonogram was decent enough to tell us that they are expecting another little girl, but the whole experience was rather shabby. The technician was rude and she didn’t really know how to do her job. She could not get the 3D ultrasound to work even though Britt’s insurance covered this procedure. Lucky for all, the technician did not get a good image of the 3-cord vessel and we all got to come back for a 2nd sonogram. Matt got to see this one which was 3D and FANTASTIC. It was just as neat as when Brie was in utero. It was amazing to see how different the two sisters look already. You can see that baby 2 probably won’t have Brie’s “Jolie” lips, but I am sure that she will have another striking feature to make up for it. I think maybe Bob’s blue eyes may win out this time. All in all, the baby looks very healthy and I am so lucky to have a best friend that shares her life experiences with me.
In Carr household news, it appears that Beth Emmons is a psychic. Matt and I are half mental and decided that we just did not have the heart to give Socks to anyone else. So, a bouncy little puppy has been added and that is it for furry ones, seriously, that is it! Socks is doing great. He is little Casanova, quickly trying to win Bentley status in his Momma’s heart. It has been so much fun having him and we can’t really complain about much aside from him being a little tricky to house-break. He is 12 weeks though and we cut him a little slack because of this fact.
The Great Frederick Fair was a week ago. The gang all got together and went out for a really fun evening. I love the fair. It is one of those memories that I have since being a young child and I still get all giddy when the fair comes around. I will try to steal pictures from Brittany shortly.
As most of you know, my hubby turned the big 3-OH on the 21st of the month. Colleen and I spent all of that Friday putting up “30-ville.” We had a huge banner outside that said “Look Who’s 30!” and a bunch of decorations inside that turned our house into a 30 wonderland. During our dinner at Carrabbas, I gave Matt his gift. I managed to snag 50 yard line, front row tickets to the Redskins/Giants game on Sunday. We went to the game this past Sunday and were like two little kids at Disney! I can’t imagine having a better time with anyone at the game and we truly enjoyed ourselves immensely. Sadly, we were sitting on the Giants side and all the men that played for Giants were almost within touching distance. I didn’t know any of them except for the few big names (Eli Manning, Shockey, etc..). Even so, the game was a hit and I think I did well for Matt’s big day. And, yes, the Skins lost and the way they played in that 2nd half, they deserved to lose. We are having a friend party at a surprise, undisclosed restaurant this coming up Saturday. It is a week long celebration for Matt’s birthday this year.
In rotation news, I am off to a new location this week. I am currently at Winchester Family Practice doing my ambulatory care rotation. So far, I think I am going to like it there. Pictures of Matt’s birthday and the game should be posted soon.
