I <3 The VA
I only have 2 weeks left of my rotation at the VA. Luckily, I get to come back for 4 weeks in November. I really, really like it here. This rotation site has definitely set the bar for all the other ones. Aside from the abilities that the pharmacists have, I just really like the people. I lucked out during this rotation and I am with Matt and Rebecca from my school. And, then a WVU student is at the site and she is really cool too. To top that all off, I think my preceptor is just great. It is odd to be working under someone who is my age. If you would have asked me a few weeks ago, I would have said that it might be awkward, but it is quite the opposite. I like it because she is not only smart and “fresh” on her knowledge, but we have a lot in common because of our age and we actually have similar viewpoints. Anyhow, I could write a novel on why I love the VA and my preceptor, but I will stop after I tell my short brag story. My preceptor, Trisha is her name btw, went to San Francisco this past weekend. I think I mentioned how good the sour dough bread is about 50 times before she left because I get really excited about fresh, wharf sour dough bread. Low and behold, she returned from San Francisco with a WHOLE loaf of it just for me!!!! I was heckled on my way out of the building from others in the pharmacy who really wanted that loaf. Being the kind and generous person that I am, I think I will cut up some slices of it and bring it in to share. But, let me tell you what: That bread was so darn good with my dinner.
This year is really flying by and it is going to be March 24th before I know it. I found out today that I will be graduating on May 9th!!!!! It was exciting to hear that, but nerve-wrecking too. Graduating means that I will soon be taking the NAPLEX, can we say STRESS? On top of that, graduation also means that I have to soon get lined up with what I am doing in life. I am strongly considering a residency. There are a few options that I have in my head and that I need to look into further. Of course, the VA is on that list. There are a few others that I will write about here sooner or later. But, for now, I have to get off. You see, Trisha is a great preceptor, but she has given me a fair amount of work to get done and I need to go do some of it. Next blog: My options in life.
